Airbrush Questions - Answered!

I often get asked about the benefits of airbrush are over traditional foundation. Here are a few questions that I usually get:

Why is airbrush foundation so much better than traditional liquid, cream, powder or mineral foundation?

Airbrush foundation is specially formulated to be sprayed onto the skin using a very fine mist of concentrated pigments. The foundation is very concentrated, meaning the pigment will offer a lot of coverage without having to use as much product. This also means it will feel lighter on the skin, so no cake-y feeling. Most of my clients comment that they don’t even feel like they are wearing foundation.

Does it matter if I have oily/combination/dry skin?

Airbrush foundation is also suitable for any skin type! Depending on what it is derived from (silicone, water, alcohol) it will give the appearance of different finishes. Silicone-based airbrush foundation has more of a dewy finish whereas water-based has a very matte look. We prefer silicone based airbrush foundation. Silicone based foundation also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines!

Does it matter what brand is used?

Not in particular; however, a true professional will not carry the at home brands like Dinair or Luminess, but industry standard, professional brands such as Kett or Temptu.

How long will the makeup last?

The brand that our team uses, Temptu, guarantees their foundation to last a minimum of 12-14 hours without smearing, running, fading or caking. I have never had a client complain about the foundation not lasting until they choose to take it off. For my more oily skinned clients, or brides getting married on a hot, humid day, I do recommend blotting if sweating (do not wipe!) and bringing along a translucent powder and/or oil blotting sheets.

Can the foundation cover hyperpigmentation or extreme cases of rosacea?

Yes, red spots, brown spots, any spot,or blemish, even dark circles under your eyes diminish and/or disappear.

Basically, if you want to look like acelebrity with flawless skin that is HD camera ready, airbrush will be your best friend. This is why most photographers will recommend that you hire an artist that does airbrush makeup for your wedding day!  ; )
